To the editor: Well, with days before this election I have to say a few words. The first is it is OK to agree and disagree with me. Just read with an open mind, research both opponents’ websites for facts. My feelings are so strong I just need to voice them. I have lived 66 years in the U.S.A. and proud to grow up on a farm. To the editor: We are writing as former members of the Iowa Senate, Democrat and Republican. Neither of us agree 100 percentof the time, but we have always respected the other’s right to their opinions, views and thoughts. We both were involved in very competitive races and tried to act as civilly as possible. To the editor: America’s newspapers provide the valuable service of information. At the top of many papers they have the First Amendment. That’s right, it was the very first one, so the founding fathers must have thought it was important. To the editor: A democracy is a very fragile thing. It can easily be eroded. I revere our Constitution and Bill of Rights. The very first article in the Bill of Rights gives us freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of the press. These rights are the very backbone of a democracy. To the editor: All of us need to vote this Nov. 3. We are at a crossroads in America and need to stand up and do our duty. We have listened to all of our candidates and it’s time to vote.
