Garden tour was a success

To the editor: The Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club expresses appreciation and thanks to all who supported our recent 20th annual garden tour. To the homeowners and gardeners who so graciously displayed your gardens to the public, thank you. We know that you lovingly tend your gardens routinely, and that you gave extra time and effort to showcase your gardens for our tour. We also thank The Messenger for publicity and photo coverage, the area businesses who allowed us to post flyers, Becker Garden Center for handling the advance tickets, and all who bought tickets to view the yards ...

Oakland Cemetery Walk is a success

To the editor: The annual Oakland Cemetery Walk was a success again this year. The Friends of Oakland Cemetery would like to first of all thank the Ann Smeltzer Charitable Trust, without their continued support and donation each year we would not be able to have the walk. Others we would like to thank for their donations are: Graham Tire, Kemna Auto, Bill Becker, C & S Products, Rees Truck & Trailer, Gunderson Funeral Home, Mikos & Matt Furniture, Kim Wetzel & Three Eagles Radio, Shimkat Motors, Historic Bruce’s Funeral Home, United Bank Of Iowa, & Fort & Schiegel Bookkeeping. Swing for a Cure team says thank you

To the editor: The 17th annual Swing for a Cure golf outing was held on June 10 this year at the Fort Dodge Country Club. We had 36 teams that enjoyed the fun-filled day. The event raises funds that are utilized in the outpatient Diabetes Center at Trinity Regional Medical Center. The invaluable education provided by this center gives those with diabetes the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a long and healthy life, reducing the ...

The highlight of being grand marshals of Frontier Days was the Saturday morning parade. Plus, all the many kind remarks we have received. Yet we are able to provide food, clean beds, medical aid and comfort to thousands and thousands of illegal aliens. Some have paid their life savings, others are gangs, bringing fentanyl, guns, crime and disease. They are all illegal. When Mrs Biden was asked if they ...

Warns of protests over Roe decision

To the editor: In 1973 the Supreme Court, in Roe v. Wade, granted women the right to an abortion up to the point of viability, believed at the time to be around 23 weeks into the pregnancy. The right was granted nationwide. States could be more restrictive of abortions when the pregnancy was in the second trimester and beyond. I suspect many Americans support abortion when the person is the victim of rape or incest, and when needed to save the life of the mother. However, over the past several years some in Congress, and in some state legislatures, have promoted the belief that a woman ...
