It’s time to move forward

To the editor: Last year taught me that there aren’t always do-overs. Sometimes there is no going back. The only choice is to move forward. Over the last few days, that has brought many reflective thoughts. It seems that our country and world needs to reflect on the past and learn what can be done to make our lives and our neighbors lives better — and move forward. Thank you, American Legion Auxiliary

To the editor: We would like to thank the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary for the dinner and entertainment in Duncombe for our veterans on Jan. 5th. It was excellent and greatly appreciated. Knollcrest residents unhappy with recent zoning decision

To the editor: We got a letter dated 11/26/18 from the associate planner with the city informing us of a meeting with the Plan and Zoning Commission. We received the letter because our property in Knollcrest “is within 200 feet of the subject land” for rezoning. Our next door neighbors, as well as the vast majority of over 200 single family property owners in Knollcrest, were not notified. The letter stated “the developer (from Missouri) had submitted a land use change and rezoning request to allow for construction of an apartment complex development situated on approximately ...

All good things must come to an end

To the editor: It’s my last year of Christmas lights. It was my 34th year. All good things have to come to an end is true. I’ll be 90 March 2. What a goodbye farewell and record crowds of people for the first time people and other people who have been coming for all these years. When channel TV station 13 filmed it, it was released all over the state, most of them wanted to thank me and say goodbye and some of them with tears. To the editor: Upper Des Moines Opportunity Inc. Thanks ABATE for their donation of toys and gifts. Helping families in Webster and surrounding counties with gifts for the little ones. Think of Almost Home when donating

To the editor: We would first like to say “Thank You” to all the generous people and businesses in our community who have given their support to Almost Home. As animal lovers, it breaks our hearts to see a stray cat or dog on the street. Without Almost Home there would be many, many more. The shelter adopts over 400 cats and dogs every year, giving these stray and abandoned animals their “FOREVER HOME.” As winter approaches, there are many cats and dogs out on the street who won’t make it through the winter.
