Thanks to our sponsors and supporters

To the editor:

Thanks to all of our sponsors and our many supporters of the Fort Dodge Evening Lions Truck Raffle, this was again a very successful project. Thanks to all my fellow Lions that helped sell tickets, collected sponsor money and hopefully had fun doing the job. This year’s winner was Pederson Sanitation Corp. who has been one of our great sponsors over the years. We hope that they will get a lot of use out of this truck for some time. We enjoy this project because of the many interactions we have with the sponsors and especially with the people who stop by our table at the stores (Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota, Hy-Vee, Fareway and Walmart) and talk to us and say thanks for what we do in our community. We like to hear when we have helped a member of their family or someone they know.

The money we have made on this project goes back into the community through our donations to several organizations in town. We also help out the adult people of the area with glasses when they cannot afford them with the help of Dr. Moehnke. We do try to get help for anyone in need of hearing aids or at least help them get to where they can get help. During this last year we also had a visit from Santa when Santa was not at the mall anymore so that young people could get pictures of their children with Santa. We did a bags tournament at Rides for D/SAOC and we did the timed grocery run at Fareway for the Food Pantry.

Thanks to all who gave generously to our raffle so we can keep doing these events in our community. Later this year we will also be giving candy away for the Lions Candy Days and we will also be doing the grocery giveaway to five families in early December. Hope to see you out and about soon.

Chairman of the raffle was Bill Oberhelman, Earl Possehn and Rosemary Possehn and the whole Fort Dodge Evening Lions Club members.
