FDSH in action at DM East

DES MOINES — The short-handed Fort Dodge boys track team competed in the Don Graves Des Moines East Classic on Saturday.

The Dodgers placed fifth with 57 points. Des Moines Lincoln (136) was the winner, followed by East, Ottumwa, Marshalltown and FDSH.

Freshman Mason Bolton took second in the high jump (5-6). Bolton was also fourth in the 110 high hurdles.

Freshman Joe Constable grabbed runner-up honors in the discus (116-6).

The Dodgers’ 4×800-meter relay team of freshman Jayce Point, freshman Zak Jorgensen, freshman Cael Hansen and junior Shawn Roberts crossed in second (9:12.63). The FDSH distance medley relay of senior Omarion Myers-Zimmerman, sophomore Taevon Feeley, freshman Jarrod Chada and Poynt was third in 4:07.37.

The shuttle hurdle relay quartet of Bolton, sophomore Hunter Kasperbauer, freshman Colin Appler and sophomore Brennen Stickrod finished fourth (1:15.16), as did the 4×200 quartet of freshman Sam Moser, sophomore Tytrell Mosley, freshman Kyree Rochon and Myers-Zimmerman (1:40.53) and the 4×100 team of senior Val Hensley, Rochon, Mosley and Myers-Zimmerman (47.40).

Hunter Richardson, a junior, was fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:03.77).

Junior Angel Gervacio won the 100-meter wheelchair race in 34.62.

“We had eight varsity athletes gone for spring break,” FDSH head coach Kevin Astor said. “Mason had a really good day, and Joe was able to get second in the disc, which is a positive.”

The Dodgers are back in action on Monday at Boone.
