Tritons lose in Region XI tourney

BURLINGTON — The sixth-ranked Iowa Central baseball team lost their second contest in the Region XI Tournament on Sunday.

The Tritons (45-10 overall) fell to Southeastern, 14-8, and were forced into a win-or-go-home game versus Kirkwood.

The early game saw the two teams played to a 4-4 tie through five innings before Southeastern (43-15) exploded for seven runs in the next two frames.

The Blackhawks took an 11-7 advantage after the outburst and never looked back.

Caleb Corbin and Teige Lethert led the Tritons with two hits each. Lethert drove in two runs.

Evan Borst, Colton Becker and Corbin had home runs for ICCC.

Qude Peters, Jackson Tessman and Lethert recorded doubles.

Jose Sallorin and Cakeb Wulf had three RBI each for the Blackhawks.

At press time, the Tritons were leading Kirkwood 8-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning of the elimination contest.

Becker hit a two-run home run in the first inning for the Tritons against Kirkwood. He had recorded two hits and three RBI through the first seven innings.
