EAGLE GROVE — Kaden Pritchard has been dreaming of competing on the big stage, and the Eagle Grove senior is ready for his last chance.

Pritchard recently reached the 100-win plateau and is looking to add a medal to cement his status for the Eagles.

“My main objective is to podium at state,” Pritchard said. “Although having the 100 wins is a big step for me, I feel as if the job is not done yet.

“I have been putting in the work with my team all season.”

The Eagle senior punched his first state ticket with a district runner up performance at 120 pounds.

Pritchard advanced to the finals with an 11-2 major decision over Kaden Meyer of Iowa Falls-Alden.

He medical forfieted in the finals to Osage’s Blake Fox (47-2).

“It feels good to be at the state meet,” Pritchard said. “The work I have put in has been showing and I don’t want to let up now.

“There is work to do on things for the state tournament.”

Pritchard was close to reaching his goal as a sophomore, qualifying for the district tournament after finishing as a sectional runner up.

In his rookie campaign he compiled 38 victories and finished third at sectionals.

In his final run at a state medal Pritchard has 27 victories and has only two losses.

“I’ve been wrestling for about nine to 10 years,” Pritchard said. “It’s the things that people don’t see when you thrive the most.

“Practicing when nobody is watching and staying focused, doing all the little things and every detail is critical in this sport.

“I like to live by a quote from Spencer Lee, “Excuses are for wusses.”

Pritchard had a solid youth career, qualifying for AAU state, but not reaching the medal round.

Starting at $4.62/week.
