Let’s be more than bystanders

To the editor: The recent egregious acts of racism that occurred in Minneapolis have created collective outrage nationwide, but George Floyd isn’t an anomaly and Facebook outrage isn’t going to stop things like this from continuing to occur in America. Acts like that don’t happen on accident. To the editor: During this somber time, we as a whole have turned our eyes toward the events currently unfolding in Minneapolis. I have seen the same appalling photos and video footage you have, and I was deeply saddened to learn that on Monday, May 25th, 2020, George Floyd died while in police custody. To the editor: In response to “The blame game is on” published April 24th, yes the president is to blame, he’s supposed to be the leader of this country. You omitted all of the facts in your editorial. On January 1st WHO began investigating COVID- 19. On Jan. 23, The WHO Director- General convened an Emergency Committee (EC) to assess whether the outbreak constituted a public health emergency of international concern. A Merry Christmas in May

To the editor: I want to make an early announcement to let the people know I will be putting my lights of Christmas up again this coming year, only because of this virus spreading all over. Last year was positively the last year. I am sure by the time Christmas gets here, a very large percentage of people will be broke and the parents won’t be able to buy their kids a present, which is only about seven months away. Alarmed at attacks on Asian Americans

To the editor: Though I have not witnessed this personally, my adopted daughter who is of Asian decent, and lives in another part of our country, has experienced it first-hand. It has progressed to the point that she is scared for her own safety. She is ostracized in part due to the unfounded rhetoric of certain groups of people that are trying to blame Asians for the pandemic.
