Fires blaze through 2 FD homes overnight
The Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to two overnight house fires this weekend.
Firefighters were called to a possible attic fire at a residence at 1628 N. 26th St. shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday night.
According to the Fort Dodge Fire Rescue Facebook page, crews quickly controlled the fire and had to pull ceilings and remove remaining smoldering insulation.
FDFD received another call around 5 a.m. Sunday to a residence across from the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility at 1531 L St.
There was heavy fire throughout the structure, including the exterior, when crews arrived. The Engine 4 crew used its tank water with the deck gun to apply fast water, and the Engine 5 and Engine 4 crews deployed hand lines to control the remaining fire and protect neighboring homes.
No injuries were reported at either fire and Fort Dodge Police and MidAmerican Energy assisted at each scene.
