FDSH students chosen for Musical Theater Awards
Five Fort Dodge Senior High theater department students will perform in a collaborative inter-school medley led by a guest Broadway music director and choreographer at the 2016 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase.
Nick Sanford, Raelinn Spears, Brayden Bell, Karisa Meier and Eli Asay will represent FDSH in the opening number of the Showcase. Presented by Des Moines Performing Arts, the showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on June 6 at 7 p.m. and will include a total of 34 schools from across Iowa.
Fort Dodge Senior High is also being recognized for the following awards and honors for their April 2016 production of “Crazy For You”:
- Distinguished Scene: “Slap That Bass”
- Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role: Eli Asay as Bobby Child;
- Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role: Landon Getting as Bela Zangler;
- Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role: Rebekah Henkelman as Irene Roth;
- Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role: Annie Laird as Polly Baker;
In addition, FDSH student Jennifer Curtis was one of four Iowa high school students chosen to work the stage crew for the showcase at the Civic Center.
