King Band concert tours the world — musically

The summer concerts by the Karl L. King Municipal Band will continue for three more Sunday evenings on July 12, 19 and 26. Concert time is 7:30 p.m. at the historic Karl L. King Band Shell in Oleson Park. There is no admission charge courtesy of the City of Fort Dodge. The Southeast Valley School Fine Arts Boosters will again provide ice cream and baked goodies before the concert for a freewill donation to their school programs. Vacation Bible school is Tuesday through Friday

St. Olaf Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church are partnering to hold vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Thursday for ages 6 to 12 years old. The theme is “Lego and Trust God.” There will be an Option Fellowship Camp until 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Lunch will be provided to those staying. On Friday, it will end at 12 p.m. with a block party. Family members are invited to attend. The cost is by freewill donation. It is being held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 239 N. 11th St.

Federated Garden Club to meet

The Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. on July 21 at the Lion’s Den, 731 Exposition Drive, Fort Dodge. The program will be on Honey by Stripling Apiaries. The public is always welcome to attend.

Cemetery walk features Voices from the Past

The Kossuth County Genealogical Society and the Algona Affiliate of AAUW will be hosting their 14th annual cemetery walk during Founders’ Day weekend in Algona, July 9-12. A graveside presentation will take place beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Riverview Cemetery. The main gate of the cemetery is at the north end of Phillips Street in Algona. Audience members are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring their own lawn chairs.
