IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond girls track and field team scored a pair of runner-up finishes here Monday at the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadet Relays. Grundy Center was crowned overall champions, as Webster City finished second. Humboldt was third followed by AGWSR, South Hardin, Iowa Falls-Alden, the Gaels and Eagle Grove. Grace Schlegel was the runner-up in the 1,500 for St. Edmond, as she also anchored the distance medley relay to a fourth. The No. 18 Iowa Central baseball team began the final homestand of the season with a sweep over Ellsworth here Friday at Rogers Park. Scores were 16-6 in six innings and 15-3 in seven. Two former local standouts have had memorable weeks competing in the American Rivers Conference. St. Edmond graduate Kaili Henning tossed a perfect game for the Loras College softball team just days after Fort Dodge Senior High’s Eli Elsbecker had a six-RBI performance in a win for Coe College on the baseball diamond. Henning, a sophomore, struck out seven without a single Buena Vista player reaching base in a 12-0 victory in five innings Friday afternoon.
