DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge boys tennis team secured the second win of the season here Tuesday night, sweeping Des Moines Hoover, 11-0. Aidan Recker, Carson Huffman, Kyron McCrady, Easton Minkoff, Sawyer Evans and Jake Pingel picked up wins in singles for the Dodgers. “All the kids played really, really well,” FDSH head coach Scott Messerly said. “They battled the heat throughout the meet. MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls soccer team fell to 15th-ranked Mason City on Tuesday. The Dodgers (1-4 overall) lost 8-1. Mason City (5-0) had a 4-1 lead at halftime. Second team IAC all-conference selection Addie Lentsch scored the lone goal for the Dodgers. Since returning from injury, Lentsch has scored in two straight games. The Dodgers are back in action on Friday when they host Des Moines East (1-4). Varsity action will begin at 7 p.m. inside Dodger Stadium.

POCAHONTAS — Freshman Rihanna Myers swept the throwing events at the Pocahontas Area Invitational here on Tuesday. Myers led St. Edmond, winning the Class B shot put and discus titles. She had a throw of 33-11.25 in the shot put and 88-6 in the discus. The Gaels were also first in the 4x200 relay behind the quartet of Kenzie Nolte, Ava Bradley, Breckyn Ulrich and Brianna Saathoff, as they finished in 1:56.08. DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls golf squad joined junior Emma Lloyd in earning runner-up honors at a quadrangular on Tuesday. Lloyd carded a 45 to pace the Dodgers, who had a 209 as a team at Bright Grandview Golf Course. Ottumwa (196) was the winner, and Des Moines North’s Saleah Vivian-Vong (37) took meet medalist honors. Kinsley Nelson (51), Brielle Crouch (55) and Emersyn Lara (58) had the other counting scores for FDSH. Des Moines East and Des Moines Lincoln also competed in the event. The Dodgers are scheduled to compete at Ames in a make-up dual on Thursday.
