WEBSTER CITY — Anthony Valles put together his best night of the season for the St. Edmond boys track and field team here Tuesday at the Lynx Relays hosted by Webster City.
Valles, a senior, won both the 3,200 and 1,600, adding a third in the 800.
“Anthony really, really had a great meet,” SEHS head coach Mike Szalat said. “He ran a smart 3,200 and came right back about 10 minutes after running the 800 and gutted out his run in the 1,600.
“It was really fun to watch him go out there and compete like he did.”
Valles posted a winning time in the 3,200 of 10:31.01, went 4:51.91 in the 1,600 and 2:09.93 in the 800.
Aaron Hindt was second in the 200 and placed third in the 100 for St. Edmond. The junior went 22.89 in the 200 and 11.40 in the 100.
Grant Galles was sixth in both the 100 and 200.
“We had a number of PRs and just a really good night overall as a team,” Szalat said. “I’m really enjoying being around these guys this season.”
Waverly-Shell Rock won the meet, with Iowa Falls-Alden, Webster City, Humboldt, Eagle Grove and St. Edmond rounding out the team scoring.
Justin Callahan, who committed to Simpson College earlier in the day, was a perfect 4-for-4 in action for Webster City. Callahan won the 400 in 49.77 and the 400 hurdles in 56.20 while anchoring the winning sprint medley and 4×400 relays.
