Free screening is well worth your time
To the Editor:
In the past, we have traveled south and spent our winters there. After returning from spending a lot of time in the sunny south we noticed that I had quite a large darkened area on my forehead and also my ear.
Our daughter suggested we take advantage of a free screening at Iowa Central Community College. We are so glad that we did as both of the areas needed treatment. We were referred to a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment. both of the areas were identified as pre-melanoma and removed.
If you smoke, have been a smoker, chew tobacco, drink alcohol, or have had a lot of sun exposure we strongly encourage you to take advantage of the FREE head and neck cancer screening.
This event will be held on Thursday, April 19, from 2-6 p.m. at the ICCC Dental Hygiene Clinic. You can pre-register by calling 515-574-1327, or visit www.unitypoint.org/cancercare.
When we did this, it took no longer than 30 minutes. It sure was well worth our time.
