The No. 18 Iowa Central baseball team began the final homestand of the season with a sweep over Ellsworth here Friday at Rogers Park. Scores were 16-6 in six innings and 15-3 in seven. The Tritons (42-9 overall, 20-6 in the ICCAC) scored in all six innings of the opener, highlighted by an eight-run fifth. Two former local standouts have had memorable weeks competing in the American Rivers Conference. St. Edmond graduate Kaili Henning tossed a perfect game for the Loras College softball team just days after Fort Dodge Senior High’s Eli Elsbecker had a six-RBI performance in a win for Coe College on the baseball diamond. Henning, a sophomore, struck out seven without a single Buena Vista player reaching base in a 12-0 victory in five innings Friday afternoon. HAMPTON — The St. Edmond boys and girls track and field teams wrapped up the week by competing here on Friday at the Jim Basye Co-Ed Relays. Anthony Valles had a big night for the Gaels, placing in the Top-5 in the three individual distance events. The senior was third in both the 3,200-meter and 1,600-meter runs, adding a fifth in the 800.
