Another tough foe for Jaguars

The Southeast Valley football team knocked off a two-time district champion, now the Jaguars are faced with a perennial power.
The Jaguars (1-0 overall) defeated Manson Northwest Webster (0-1) 20-6 in their opener, now they travel to face the E-Hawks (1-0).
Now that the first week jitters are out of the way, teams are looking to fix the problems and work on their strengths as Football Fridays are in full swing.
The Messenger area went 7-5 in Week 1. The lone area matchup this week is the Jaguars and E-Hawks, who have played four times since 2011.
Emmetsburg won last year's meeting, 34-27.
Last week the Jaguars won their second straight contest against the Cougars. Quarterback Casey Hanson carried the ball 14 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns with a long of 32.
Fellow quarterback Mason Bahr threw for 74 yards and a 38-yard touchdown strike to Bryce Harrison. Harrison hauled in two balls for 54 yards.
Emmetsburg beat Estherville-Lincoln Central, 21-13. The E-Hawks ran for 284 yards on the ground on 49 totes.
Joe Fischer was the groundhog, going 12 for 95. Clay Shirk had five carries for 70 yards. MJ Bay had two touchdowns and Beckham Shirk had one. Four backs ran for more than 50 yards.
The E-Hawk defense had two fumble recoveries and one interception.
MVAOCOU (1-0) at Manson Northwest Webster (0-1)
The Cougars are looking to end a three-game skid against the Rams. MVAOCOU won last year's meeting 42-12.
In Week 1, the Rams beat Missouri Valley 28-0. The Rams had only 155 yards of total offense, but their defense came up big, allowing only 118 yards of offense from the Big Reds.
Quarterback Caden Schmidt threw for 93 yards and three touchdowns and the Rams struggled on the ground with only 62 yards.
Jake Scott had two catches for 39 yards and two scores and Bronx Siebersma had two grabs for a 25 yard touchdown. Scott also returned a kick 90 yards for a score.
For the Cougars, second team All-State selection Coy Moline ran for 81 yards and a six-yard touchdown.
Eagle Grove (1-0) at Ogden (1-0)
The Eagles are looking to end a three-game skid against the Bulldogs. Ogden won 25-24 last season.
In their season opening win, the Eagles scored 76 points in their victory over Lake Mills. Ogden beat Perry 29-8.
Eagle Grove ran for 447 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. They had four touchdowns over 20 yards.
Adrian Whipple had 137 yards and three scores, with a long of 55. Trenton Robinson had 83 yards and two scores.
Keegan Eisentrager had 78 and one score. Also scoring touchdowns was Aaron Alaniz, Kylar Sisson and Colson Schafer.
Whipple threw a 29-yard touchdown to Gavin Pedersen.
For the Bulldogs, Jackson Kilth had two rushing touchdowns and Tyler Lass had one. Carson Lloyd was 21-for-26 for 176 yards and a seven-yard scoring strike to Kobe Current.
Riceville (1-0) at Bishop Garrigan (1-0)
The defending eight-man champions Bishop Garrigan got off to a hot start in Week 1, beating Kingsley-Pierson 49-6.
The Wildcats put up some points as well, beating Turkey Valley 78-6.
For the Golden Bears CJ McGregor ran for 126 yards and four touchdowns. Carter Cink, Titan Troyer and Wyatt Schaffer also had rushing touchdowns.
Jack Muller and Michael Joyce had interceptions, while Joyce and Hayden Miller recovered fumbles.
Riceville ran for 331 yards and threw for 109.
Both Reagan Richardson and Asher Ebert went over 100 yards rushing, with 158 and 107 respectively, both scoring three times each.
Richardson had a long of 43 and Ebert's was 59.
Ebert also threw for three touchdowns on 5 of 6 passing for 109 yards.
Owen Smith had four grabs for 73 yards and two scores, while Blake Baethke had one catch for a 36-yard score.
Humboldt (0-1) at Clear Lake (1-0)
The Wildcats suffered a 26-7 setback to Spencer in their opener and the Lions cruised to a 56-8 victory over Forest City.
Clear Lake won last year's meeting 23-7.
For the Wildcats, Caden Fredin had a seven-yard touchdown run.
The Lions ran for 164 yards and quarterback Jaxson McIntire was 6-for-8 passing for 211 yards and three scores.
McIntire threw a 48-yard touchdown to Isaac Brownlee, Maddon McIntire (61 yards) and Bradyn Watkins (18 yards).
Drayce Dohlman had three rushing touchdowns and McIntire had one as well.
Kingsely-Pierson (1-1) at West Bend-Mallard (2-0)
The Wolverines picked up their second victory of the season, knocking off GTRA, 39-34. The Panthers lost to Bishop Garrigan 49-6.
Against the Titans, Trent Morey ran for 170 yards and two scores. Carter Stalzer and Cesar Falcon both had rushing scores.
Morey threw touchdown passes to Kacen Flynn and Abner Zaugg.
This season Morey has 242 yards and five scores, while Stalzer and Falcon have two touchdowns each. Morey has thrown four touchdown passes.
