Dodger boys win at the lanes

The Fort Dodge boys bowling team picked up a victory in a triangular on Friday at Family Bowling Center.

The Dodgers beat Estherville-Lincoln Central 2,571-2,481. They lost to Carroll 2,664-2,571.

“The boys bowled our second best total of the season but unfortunately couldn’t get the sweep,” said Fort Dodge boys head coach Julie Ulrich. “Carroll gave us opportunities to close the gap in bakers but ultimately we matched their low games with a few of our own.

Those are the games I have to get the boys in the mind frame to capitalize and we aren’t quite there yet.”

Slade Babb paced the Dodgers with a 421 series, rolling a 222 and 199. Blake Seaman was right on the 400 line, finishing with a 397. He had a 205 and 192.

Leland Sassman had a 326 (181-145). Lium Powers checked in with a 304 (158-146). Also throwing for the Dodgers was Holden Doster (164-132–296) and Shadin Roach (138-130–268).

“Slade Babb shot 421 (199, 222) and continues to be such a tremendous leader for our team and not just because of his high stats,” Ulrich said. “He wants to win and is always the guy with the most energy and positivity. He was absolutely clutch for us tonight in bakers. Slade struck 11 out of 15 frames and only had one open.

“Blake Seeman had a nice set of singles (397)..”

The Dodger junior varsity lost 2,048-2,029. Bailen Peterson had the high score for the Dodgers, rolling a 306 (169-137).

Also competing for the Dodgers was Aidan Russell (111-163–274), Jake Pingel (117-157–274), Jaxton Jones (132-124–256), Eli Johnson (109-115–224) and Tyler Halbach (119-89–208).

The Dodger girls lost 1,558-to 1,568 to Caroll.

Calli Graves had the high score for the Dodgers, rolling a 299. Graves had games of 172 and 127. Kaylie Guthrie was next in line with a 203 (103-100).

Also rolling for the Dodgers was Maryah McDonald (68-110–178), Cierra Robell (93-74–167), Ara Elias (77-89–166) and Joely Gilbert (78-76–154).

“We struggled to stay consistent,” said Fort Dodge girls coach Nick Vinson. “It’s hard to win when we have multiple kids struggling. We have to do a better job mentally and find a way to fight through it.”

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they head to Mason City.
