The 10th-ranked Iowa Central women’s soccer team made the most of their new field this year, securing the ICCAC Div. II regular season championship with a commanding 13-0 win over Marshalltown here on Wednesday.

With the win, the Tritons also earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region XI Tournament, which means they can host throughout on their own campus.

Iowa Central (9-4-3 overall, 8-0-1 in conference) takes on either Iowa Lakes or Western Iowa Tech next Wednesday in the semifinals. The championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 3.

“It was great to see our team develop over the season,” ICCC head coach Jordan Sibenaller said. “After a challenging start to the year, we started playing our best soccer when it mattered.”

After playing home games at Rogers Sports Complex for the past several years, the Tritons moved back home to a brand-new turf field beginning this fall. They have gone 5-2-1 there including four consecutive wins.

Since starting the season 0-3-2, Iowa Central has reeled off a 9-1-1 mark, with the lone setback coming to Indian Hills. They also battled Hawkeye to a draw earlier this month and own two wins over Top-10 teams at the time.

The Tritons enter regionals having won four straight, allowing just one goal during that span. They are also unbeaten in October and have outscored their last six opponents 27-2.

Iowa Central battled Marshalltown to a 1-1 draw in the regular season finale for the men, who now head to West Burlington to face Southeastern on Saturday in the Region XI first round.

The Tritons would advance to face top-seed Northeast win a win after going 4-10-2 this year. All four of their wins did come on the road.

Starting at $4.94/week.
