Beck second at conference tourney

WATERLOO — Trenton Beck picked up a runner-up finish here Thursday at the Iowa Alliance Conference Tournament.

Beck placed second in the North standings to lead the Fort Dodge boys, who were fourth overall.

Rylie Marquardt of Waterloo East was the meet winner with a 739, as Beck rolled a 703.

This was the first 700 series for a Dodger bowl since the new scoring format was put into place.

“Great day for Trenton,” FDSH head coach Nick Vinson said. “When you think about some of the bowlers we have had come through here over the last few years, to be the first to do this really says something.

“I am so happy for him and excited for his future.”

East had a team score of 3,032 for top honors followed by Ames, Marshalltown, the Dodgers and Mason City.

Evan Hage had a 559 series followed by Dylan Crawford (505), Brian Keenan (466), Slade Babb (451) and Noah Winninger (436).

“All in all, it was a good day for us,” Vinson said. “Evan had his first 400 of the season. It felt like everybody had a bright spot they can build on towards the postseason.

“We were hoping to finish higher overall, but we’ve only had one score all season better than this. Everybody at the meet just really bowled very, very well.”

The Dodgers head to Urbandale on Tuesday for districts. Joining Fort Dodge will be Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, Des Moines Hoover, West Des Moines Dowling, Newton, North Scott, Pella and the host J-Hawks.

Starting at $4.94/week.
