Dodgers double up Bulldogs
WATERLOO — The Fort Dodge baseball team picked up their third victory in as many games to begin the season here Tuesday night, besting Hampton-Dumont/CAL at Riverfront Stadium, 8-4.
A six-run third fueled the win a night after the Dodgers swept Des Moines Hoover.
“We just got things rolling that inning,” FDSH head coach Blake Utley said. “It came with two outs and was just hit-after-hit-after-hit. We earned every part of it.”
Dalton Rosalez, Drew Moritz and Karch Smith all had two hits each, with Rosalez driving in three. Landen Grandors had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks while recording three strikeouts to pick up the win on the mound.
“Landen did an outstanding job,” Utley said. “He kept them guessing and really responded well. He got in a little trouble when he got tired in the fifth, but he pitched out of it.
“Landen Hout came on and finished things off great. We had several guys with big hits throughout the night.”
Hout recorded the final six outs without allowing a hit, while Cael Pavik and Ty Adams each scored twice. Grant Williams drove in a run and reached base twice.
Fort Dodge returns to action on Monday when they host Des Moines North beginning at 5 p.m.
