IOWA FALLS — Playing for the first time away from Dodger Stadium, the ninth-ranked Iowa Central football team had no trouble with Ellsworth, winning here Saturday, 58-6.

Major Williams set the tone early, returning the opening kickoff back 74 yards for a touchdown for the Tritons (3-1 overall, 1-1 in ICCAC), who now prepare for a rematch with No. 5 Iowa Western in Council Bluffs next weekend. The Reivers downed Arkansas Baptist, 45-0.

Brady Pope completed 9 of 17 passes for 120 yards with three touchdowns while Byron Jarrett accounted for over 150 yards of offense and three passing TDs in his return against the Panthers. Jarrett spent his freshman season with Ellsworth.

“It was great playing there again,” Jarrett said. “Especially seeing some familiar faces of guys I played with on the Ellsworth staff. It felt great to have a great traveling crowd for the support as well.”

Jarrett completed 8 of 14 for 77 yards, adding another 87 yards on the ground. Jadon Washington ran for 70 yards with a touchdown while Clayton Ollendieck had six receptions for 75 yards and caught three scores.

Jayce Levy also had a touchdown reception on the day with Colin Swygman making a 27-yard field goal.

Ellsworth’s lone points came in the third on a Ja’Ron Early touchdown run.

Earlier this year, Iowa Central suffered a 34-20 setback to Iowa Western.
