HAMPTON — The St. Edmond baseball team blanked Hampton-Dumont in their regular-season finale here on Monday, 4-0.

Senior Jake Szalat fired a complete-game five-hitter, striking out eight. Szalat improved to 6-1 on the season.

The Gaels (11-10 overall) plated a run in the first inning, two in the fifth and one more in the sixth for good measure to take care of the Bulldogs (10-12).

Jeremiah Wheeler, Cael Kolacia and Jed Tracy had two hits each for SEHS, while Szalat reachd base three times.

”After losing three in a row last week, it was good to just get back out there and finish with a win,” Gael head coach Mike Szalat said. ”We just played better overall baseball. I told the guys that when you put the ball in play, good things will happen. And we did.”

Szalat escaped a 1st and 2nd, no-out jam in the sixth. Connor Bocken fielded a ground ball cleanly, stepped on the bag and threw to first.

Drew Uhlenhopp (3-3), H-D’s ace, took the loss, falling to 3-3.

The Gaels return to action in first-round district play on July 10 against West Bend-Mallard at Bishop Garrigan. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Starting at $4.94/week.
