Former Fort Dodge Senior High and St. Edmond softball standouts Jalen Adams and Kaili Henning have helped lead their respective college programs to the postseason.

Adams, the starting pitcher for the Arizona Wildcats, and her teammates head to the NCAA Div. I Softball Championship as part of the Durham Regional where they will square off against Marshall on Friday.

Duke, the No. 12 overall seed, will meet Howard in the other contest as part of the regional bracket. The winners square off against one another on Saturday in the double-elimination tournament.

Adams, a senior, posted a record of 20-9 over 25 starts, making 37 appearances. She had five shutouts, one save and 58 strikeouts with a 3.32 earned run average.

Arizona is in the NCAA tourney for the 38th time overall after going 35-16 overall. They have made the super regional 17 of the last 19 seasons.

In her debut with the Wildcats after transferring from Iowa, Adams threw a no-hitter, striking out four in five innings vs. Southern Utah. She also had a two-hitter vs. Creighton and earned wins over national powers Oklahoma and Texas Tech.

Henning, meanwhile, has Loras College in the NCAA Div. III Softball Championship for the first time in program history. The Duhawks will be in the Angola Regional where they square off with Rochester from Trine University on Thursday.

In the other regional contest, host Trine faces Earlham. The winners will meet on Friday.

A sophomore, Henning has gone 13-6 with a 1.95 earned run average and 143 strikeouts in just over 129 innings pitched. Loras reached the American Rivers Conference tournament final for the first time this past weekend, falling to Simpson.

Earlier this year, Henning threw the third perfect game in program history vs. Buena Vista, striking out seven over five innings. She followed that up with a one-hitter vs. UW-Stevens Point.

Both Adams and Henning earned all-state honors in high school.
