Wants better upkeep of Warden Plaza
To the editor:
I recently contracted a case of Bell’s Palsy and was in the care of staff at Trinity Regional Hospital for three nights. While there, I was on the third floor of the northeast wing. As I looked out the window, I could see the image of the downtown skyline. It is a beautiful image of the river valley and the downtown and a majestic array of lights in the dark of night with lights blinking red. In the distance, the old Warden Plaza is predominant in the morning sun rise, making it the main focus of the skyline.
After leaving the hospital, I was later driving up First Avenue South and came in sight of the Warden Plaza. I reflected back when I had a second-story apartment there. It was a nice place then.
As I gazed at the building from the stop sign I observed all the broken windows and debris laying on the sidewalk. What an eyesore.
I know there are issues of what to do with the building. But why can’t it at least be kept looking presentable in the meantime?
Come on Fort Dodge, without this building it would destroy the image that this is a city of stature, not a small town community. Let’s keep that image to the people who are coming into the city of pride in itself.
