Two new Fort Dodge police officers were introduced to the City Council Monday.

Blake Smith grew up in Coalville and graduated from Southeast Webster High School. He has worked various jobs, and has been a member of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office Reserve for about two and a half years.

Lestat Lesher is a native of Florida who moved to Iowa and graduated from Manson Northwest Webster High School. He most recently served as a corrections officer at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility and is a member of the Iowa Army National Guard.

Lesher and Smith fill vacancies that bring the chronically-shorthanded police force up to 35 officers. It has an authorized strength of 40 officers.
