Great shot Mr. Stevens!

You definitely hit a grand slam homer last week with your writing about Tom Tierney. How did we get such a great guy in a plain brown wrapper?

I spent the first 16 years in Rutland, Iowa, and am very familiar with Rose Mill Park.

One cold winter afternoon several years ago we were traveling through Rutland and encountered a vehicle in the park. As we passed by we noticed a guy had a photography tripod set up. Returning to visit with him, we learned it was Tom and we knew him from his highly visible photos scattered around Humboldt County.

A few years later a fundraiser for Rose Mill Park was scheduled for Aug. 7, 2022, and we decided to find his home and visit him to request his support. We found his home when we passed two colorful peacocks sitting on a roadside rail fence. Go figure!

We got his support and bought his donation, a beautiful photo of the Rutland Hydro Plant that my Dad co-operatively ran in the late 1940s. Life is good.
