Friendship Haven scholars named

Friendship Haven recently granted scholarships to the following students.

Dr. William and Edna Remer Scholarship Fund

The Friendship Haven Memorial Foundation recently granted scholarships from the Dr. William and Edna Remer Scholarship Fund to six area students. Eligible applicants for this scholarship were college-bound students who are entering a medical or social services field for the 2017-2018 school year.

Scholarships were awarded to the following:

• Stacey Poldervaart is currently employed at Friendship Haven and is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing education from Clarkson College, Omaha, Nebraska, $1,000.

• Brianna Barkema is a Friendship Haven employee, pursuing a nursing degree at Iowa Central Community College, $1,000.

• Kiley Kuhl is employed at Friendship Haven and is planning on attending Iowa Central Community College pursuing a nursing degree, $1,000.

• Madison Engels is a 2017 graduate of St. Edmond High School and is planning on attending the University of Northern Iowa, pursuing a degree in speech/language pathology, $1,000.

• Kaci Halligan is a 2017 graduate of Manson Northwest Webster High School and plans on pursuing a nursing degree at Iowa Central Community College, $1,000.

• Aleah Sherman is a 2017 graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High and will be pursuing a nursing degree at Iowa Central Community College, $500.

Bess Pettycrew Scholarship Fund

The Friendship Haven Memorial Foundation recently granted a scholarship from the Bess Pettycrew Scholarship Fund to an area student. Eligible applicants for this scholarship were individuals who are Fort Dodge Senior High graduates attending a four-year university full time in the fall.

• Ryan Wagner is a 2017 graduate from Fort Dodge Senior High and will be pursuing an engineering degree at the University of Iowa, $800.

John and Eva Amond Scholarship Fund

The Friendship Haven Memorial Foundation recently granted a scholarship from the John and Eva Amond Scholarship Fund to an area student. Eligible applicants for this scholarship were individuals pursuing a degree in the health care field.

• Anna Taylor is a 2017 graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High and will be pursuing a degree in dietetics at Iowa State University, $1,200.
