One-man play, 'Coop,'coming to Clarion Friday

CLARION — The North Iowa Food & Community Care Network and Wright Community Connections are presenting the performance of Mary Swander’s new play “Coop,” starring Rip Russell, to be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Clarion Public Library, 302 N. Main St. “Coop” is produced by Swander Woman Productions, a theater company led by Mary Swander, of Kalona, that creates and tours dramatic performances based on food, farming, and the wider rural environment. “Coop” is one of a series of award-winning plays created by Swander. WCCT Presents Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid Jr.’

WEBSTER CITY — Webster City Community Theatre invites audiences to journey beneath the waves this June as nearly 40 area children bring “Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.” to life on the WCCT stage. Based on the beloved Disney classic, the production follows Ariel, a curious young mermaid who dreams of exploring the world above the sea. Car show at Good Shepherd on Friday

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1436 21st Ave. N., will hold its annual car show from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome. There will be door prizes and trophies awarded. Freewill donation to enter. Free hot dog, chips and a drink will be provided. Ice cream floats will be for sale. Proceeds will be donated to Lutheran Family Service of Iowa.

King Band concert highlights Father’s Day

The summer concerts by the Karl L. King Municipal Band continue on Sunday evening, starting at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charge, courtesy of the City of Fort Dodge. These concerts are held at the Karl L. King Bandshell in Oleson Park. Dan Cassady returns to the podium this week as conductor, and Paul Bloomquist returns as announcer. An ice cream social by the Southeast Valley School Fine Arts Boosters precedes each concert.
