Hopes for more at grain silos

To the editor: We have been back to Fort Dodge a number of times since we left in 2017. It has been so satisfying to see positive happenings continue to build on wise choices made by city and civic leadership. When we arrived in June of 2000 there seemed to be a prevalent attitude of frustration that marked so much of the news, so this change is greatly appreciated. We have been disappointed though in the lack of follow through with the grain silos. To the editor: Democrat Representative Adam Schiff insisted for over two years that he had “direct evidence” of Trump’s interference in the 2016 election, evidence that he has never produced nor did Special Counsel Robert Mueller after a two-year investigation. To the editor: After reading the hilarious recap of the Guns and Hoses game of last year, I looked forward to another write-up of this year’s event. I heard from a reliable source (the mom of a fire lieutenant) that the sheriff department was brave (?) enough to join in on serious and intense rivalry. When the anticipated article did not appear on Monday, I thought that perhaps the lateness of the hour when the games were completed prevented timely reporting. To the editor: After learning that Messenger sports editor Eric Pratt will be receiving the Dan McCool Media Award for his work covering wrestling, two things left me unsurprised. One was the fact that a journalist as hard-working, talented and thoughtful as Eric would be honored for his efforts. The other was that Eric wasted no time using social media to share recognition and praise with the rest of the sports staff. Need new home for museum

To the editor: Webster County residents can take a walk down that proverbial memory lane at the Webster County Museum in Otho. Today. But possibly not tomorrow. Time and Iowa weather are taking their toll on the museum’s thousands of historical items, destroying our very heritage. Plastic sheets blanket many of the exhibits, providing temporary protection from the disrespectful elements. The Webster County Museum was created 19 years ago as a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) organization.
