Supports Trevir Michehl for Webster County sheriff

To the editor: I, Rod Strait, former Chief Deputy of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, wish to offer my full support to Trevir Michehl for Webster County Sheriff. I had seen that former Sheriff Brian Mickelson withdrew his support of Sheriff Fleener. I have known Brian Mickelson since 1988 when we started our careers in law enforcement. He does not take such a step as this without a lot of consideration, and now he is supporting Trevir Michehl for Webster County Sheriff. Former Sheriff Jim Stubbs and I hired Trevir Michehl as a Webster County deputy. Trevir came to the ...

To the editor: I want to say thank you Sheriff Fleener for making sure that the students and teachers in Webster County are safe. Sheriff Fleener has been very helpful making sure that I’m informed and trained properly in order to help keep my students safe. Sheriff’s Office employees in support of Fleener

To the editor: Leadership is defined as the action of leading a group of people or organizations. The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves and pass onto others. Sheriff Luke Fleener is, by definition, an exceptional leader. Luke has worked his way into this leadership role by serving as a patrol deputy, detective, sergeant, SERT Commander, and most importantly Sheriff. There is nothing he asks us to do that he won’t do himself. Luke is consistently in the field assisting us with calls, helping on search warrants, and doing whatever is needed to ...

Fleener for sheriff

To the editor: I’m a retired police captain from the Fort Dodge Police Department. I’ve known Luke since high school days. He’s always been a leader that serves our community and others. He started his journey working in dispatching. From there he decided to move forward serving more in law enforcement. I had the opportunity to serve with him on the PD. Luke decided to serve other communities and came back with the knowledge he gained to serve our Webster County community. He has proven through his knowledge to be the leader he is. He with his deputies have grown our sheriff ...

Is Webster County on the right path?

To the editor: As we enter a new election cycle, this seems to be a good time for all of us voters who live in Webster County to review the slate of candidates not only for federal and state offices, but also of equal importance, local offices. I regularly receive a copy of the Sioux City Journal newspaper from a friend and have been following their coverage of the new county jail that is in the process of being built in Sioux City in Woodbury County following their passage of a $100 million dollar bond issue. The scheduled completion and opening of that facility is already one full ...

State senator supports sheriff

To the editor: I write to express my support for the re-election of Sheriff Luke Fleener. I have been blessed to know and serve with him for most of my life. I firmly believe that everyone has been created for specific purposes that serve and protect others. For many, it may take a lifetime to figure out what that purpose is, for others they come to realize it at an early age. Luke was born to be a public servant and specifically the sheriff of Webster County. This is the same thing you will hear from many who know him. A healthy life is one that is marked by a kind of gratitude that ...
