Impressed by Trevir Michehl

To the editor: Recently, I invited Trevir Michehl to please put his voting sign in our yard. It was the first time I met him. By word of mouth, discovered he was a motivated leader with strong skills. I was experiencing a dilemma which required assistance, had asked other official persons who said they could not or were busy. Within a very short time, Trevir took care of the problem. It was his action that still gives me hope that life has helpers. I am no longer in a quandary or a state of uncertainty. Vote in the primary June 4. A. Redman Fort Dodge

Ex-sheriff endorses Michehl

To the editor: I am writing this letter to express my full support for Trevir Michehl as the next sheriff. I want to address my previous endorsement of Luke Fleener for Webster County sheriff in 2020. Unfortunately, I now regret that decision as Sheriff Fleener has not shown a genuine commitment to the best interests of our community. While I understand that the sheriff is not required to be present in the office or within the county at all times, it is expected that the majority of their time is spent in Webster County, excluding vacation periods. One particular concern I have is ...

Supports Michehl for sheriff

To the editor: The primary election for Webster County Sheriff is on June 4, and I am writing this letter of support for my friend, Deputy Trevir Michehl, whom I have known and worked with since 2007. I first met Trevir after I hired him as a police officer in Webster City. After graduating from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, I saw him grow into a well-rounded, fair, and professional police officer who consistently desired to improve his job skills as a law enforcement officer. I could not be more proud of hiring him as he was a great asset to the organization. Deputy Michehl ...

Memorial concert was memorable

To the editor: Bruce Perry was a highly esteemed colleague of mine for many years. We were both on the Fort Dodge musical scene for a long time, he for 30 years and I for 40. The concert by the Fort Dodge Choral Society on Sunday, on May 5, was a memorial concert for Bruce, who was its artistic director for 30 years until his passing in 2023. What a wonderful concert it was! The large, 40 voice choir had a professional sound with fine balance, blend, intonation and musical sensitivity. It was very ably prepared and conducted by its new artistic director, Greta Nelson from Webster ...

Supports Sheriff Fleener

To the editor: It is my pleasure to recommend and endorse Luke Fleener for Webster County Sheriff in the primary election on Tuesday, June 4. Over the last four years, I have had the opportunity to work with Luke on multiple important issues facing our community. Issues such as crime reduction, public safety and mental health concerns have been topics that we have been able to work together to forge a path for the betterment of all Webster County residents. I have found that his experience and knowledge in law enforcement, public safety and training simply cannot be matched. As your ...

2020 Democratic opponent supports Fleener

To the editor: My name is Tony Walter and I have been a deputy with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office since 2004 and a sergeant since 2016. In 2020, I was Sheriff Luke Fleener’s general election opponent. Today, I am writing to show my support for the reelection of Sheriff Fleener and why I will be casting my vote in the Republican primary election on June 4 for him. In 20 years with the Sheriff’s Office I have seen many changes, some good and some bad. I have never previously seen the number of positive changes like I have in the last four years under Sheriff Fleener. Without ...
