Sheriff’s Office employees in support of Fleener

To the editor: Leadership is defined as the action of leading a group of people or organizations. The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves and pass onto others. Sheriff Luke Fleener is, by definition, an exceptional leader. Luke has worked his way into this leadership role by serving as a patrol deputy, detective, sergeant, SERT Commander, and most importantly Sheriff. There is nothing he asks us to do that he won’t do himself. Luke is consistently in the field assisting us with calls, helping on search warrants, and doing whatever is needed to ...

Fleener for sheriff

To the editor: I’m a retired police captain from the Fort Dodge Police Department. I’ve known Luke since high school days. He’s always been a leader that serves our community and others. He started his journey working in dispatching. From there he decided to move forward serving more in law enforcement. I had the opportunity to serve with him on the PD. He with his deputies have grown our sheriff ...

I firmly believe that everyone has been created for specific purposes that serve and protect others. For many, it may take a lifetime to figure out what that purpose is, for others they come to realize it at an early age. Luke was born to be a public servant and specifically the sheriff of Webster County. This is the same thing you will hear from many who know him. A healthy life is one that is marked by a kind of gratitude that ...

Support Luke Fleener for sheriff

To the editor: We write in support of Luke Fleener for nomination for sheriff of Webster County. In 1980, we moved to Dayton where L.J. served for five years as pastor of the United Methodist Church in Dayton. The Fleener family were members. We observed Luke as a regular participant of the activities of that church, a high school student, and a student at ICCC in the law enforcement studies. Living in Dayton, as an observant of Luke’s actions filling in for our Dayton officer we had occasion to observe Luke in his duties. We experienced personal observation of his ethical and ...
