DES MOINES — This past Saturday was a day Alex Burger will never forget. Burger, a junior for Southeast Valley, walked out of Drake Stadium with a medal after placing seventh in the 400-meter hurdles on the blue oval. DES MOINES — The Iowa Central men’s and women’s track and field program had another successful day here Friday at the Drake Relays. Competing against a number of four-year NCAA Div. I programs, the Tritons scored several Top-10 finishes, led by long jump winner Janae Dawes. Dawes, a sophomore, had a busy day for Iowa Central, competing in two relays in addition to the long jump. DES MOINES — Blue skies and calm weather greeted athletes and fans at Friday’s running of the 116th Drake Relays less than 24 hours after thunderstorms forced events to be moved up a day earlier.
