No. 8 Tritons extend win streak
BOONE — The eighth-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team pushed their win streak to nine by winning three matches here at the DMACC Invitational.
After sweeping Bismarck State and Lincoln Land on Friday, the Tritons did the same to No. 12 Illinois Central on Saturday, avenging their last loss.
“We’ve had a really great couple weeks of practices where we’ve given the girls specific areas where we felt like we needed to be better,” ICCC head coach Sara Horn said. “They responded really well and it was great to see all of their hard work pay off this weekend with three solid matches in a row.”
Former Manson Northwest Webster standout Emily Goodner had 12 kills and Araya Garrison seven vs. Bismarck State, with Olivia Benson recording 28 digs and Dani Anela Kapu dishing out 21 assists.
Goodner had nine kills against Lincoln Land while Olivia Sturgis (MNW) had eight. Both Brooke Lensing and Talya Sampson added seven.
Sampson picked up 11 kills vs. Illinois Central, Sturgis and Lensing both had eight and Goodner seven with 20 digs. Anabel Seaman recorded 18 assists.
Iowa Central heads to Ellsworth on Wednesday for ICCAC action.
