Vogel secures state spot in 100 breaststroke

PERRY — Hailey Vogel secured herself a spot at the state swim meet by hitting the qualifying standard here Thursday night for Fort Dodge.
Vogel clocked a time of 1:07.61 to earn herself a place in the 100 breaststroke as the Dodgers swept Perry and Algona.
“I am so incredibly proud of Hailey,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “We have not had a swimmer qualify during the regular season since 2019.”
Vogel’s time places her seventh in the state at the moment. She finished second in the race while also winning the 50 freestyle in 57.45 along with being part of first place finishes in both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Julia Eastman, winner of the 100 freestyle in 57.45, led off both winning relays with Gracie Harvey and Kylen Lubensky rounding out the quartet.
The 200 medley won by almost six seconds with a time of 1:57.48 while the 400 free relay won by three seconds in 3:59.62.
Harvey was a double-winner, securing gold in the 200 individual medley in 2:31.19 and the 100 butterfly in 1:07.39. Lubensky also won a race, capturing the 500 freestyle in 5:53.77.
Addison Daniel was second in the 200 freestyle, Nora O’Connor claimed silver in the 100 backstroke and the relay of Delaney O’Connor, Karlee Pearson, Nora O’Connor and Daniel were second in the 200 free.
Delaney O’Connor captured two JV races while Adelyn Meyer, Teagan Loots and Madison Sullivan each won once.
The Dodgers return to action Tuesday at Des Moines Lincoln.
