FD council to consider architect for library project
The Fort Dodge City Council will consider hiring an architect to handle some upgrades at the Fort Dodge Public Library.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. today in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.
The library by the City Square opened in 2001.
The proposed improvements include new carpeting, painting, upgraded doors, a more efficient service desk and an improved layout of the interior.
FEH Design, of Des Moines, is the firm the council will consider hiring.
About $1.1 million is budgeted for the project. Half of that money will come from a general obligation bond issue and half will come from a substantial gift to the library called the Scharfenburger donation.
The council will also consider the first reading of a measure updating the rules for demolition and house moving contractors.
The sales of a former police vehicle to Webster County and excess fiber optic cable will also be considered.
