Carson Arndt fired the low round of the meet to help lead the Humboldt boys to the North Central Conference team golf title here Monday at Fort Dodge Country Club.

Arndt had a 72, finishing two shots ahead of Algona’s Nathan Manske and three better than Webster City’s Cael Nixon.

Clear Lake was second with the Lynx just one shot back. Algona, Iowa Falls-Alden, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, St. Edmond and Clarion-Goldfield/Dows rounded out the standings.

For the Gaels, Jack McEvoy finished 18th, Ty Mericle was 27th overall and Kinnick Henning was 37th.

“That was our first tournament at the Country Club this year and if you’ve ever played that course and Lakeside, you understand just how different than are,” SEHS head coach Matt Dillon said. “Overall, we struggled on the day. We didn’t have the kind of scoring that we can and it hurt us.

“Jack and Ty both had pretty good rounds, and Kinnick had a really great day. But outside of that, we struggled.”

Hayden Derrig finished 41st, Landon Saathoff was 45th and Max Nguyen 47th to complete the St. Edmond lineup.

“Come Wednesday and sectionals, if we want to advance, we need to play better,” Dillon said. “We need to step up under the bright lights and perform like we are capable of.”

McEvoy had seven pars and Mericle finished with five pars and a birdie.

Arndt fired a 37 on the front with a birdie and four pars, following that up with five pars and a birdie over the back. Cade Birdell finished sixth, Carson Sleiter was 11th and Parker Sleiter 13th for the Wildcats, who were also crowned NCC dual champions this spring.

Manske had a 35 over his first nine holes with a birdie and seven pars. He added seven more pars over the back. Sam Schutjer finished 12th and Iowa State University football commit Alex Manske was 23rd.

Braylon Plain of Webster City was fifth overall with a 77 and Braden Doering finished 15th.

Nixon had a 37 on the back with a 38 on the front, carding two birdies and nine pars for his round.

Tristan Kakacek was 28th to lead Clarion-Goldfield/Dows.

St. Edmond will host a Class 1A sectional on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Golf Course. Joining the Gaels will be Newell-Fonda, AGWSR, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Exira-EHK, IKM-Manning and West Fork.
