Raiders win league title

STORM LAKE — The East Sac County girls golf team scored gold at the Twin Lakes Conference tournament here Monday at Lake Creek County Club.

The Raiders fired a 407, five strokes ahead of runner-up Alta-Aurelia. Pocahontas Area was third followed by Newell-Fonda, Southeast Valley, Emmetsburg and South Central Calhoun. West Bend-Mallard placed ninth.

Nicole Panbecker of Pocahontas Area was crowned the medalist, finishing three shots ahead of Avery Westphal and Makenna Steiger.

Steiger had a 97 to lead East Sac County with Sidney Bieret (100) and Kendall Quirk (104) right behind.

Panbecker’s 94 included a 46 on the back for the Indians. Addison Shimon, Camryn Allen, Delaney Janssen, Morgan Peters and Kendall Evans were next in line.

For Manson Northwest Webster, Brooklyn Boehler had the low round followed by Samantha Anderson, Mylee Swanson, Carly Gochee and Kadence Stuhr.

Karah Hayes had the low round for Southeast Valley with teammates Addison Anderson, Halle Steck, Audrey Carlson, Taylor Willardson and Hanna Hicks behind her.

South Central Calhoun’s best score came courtesy Adlen Wheelock, as Sophia Wuebker, Kyra Bruns, Mia Babcock, Kaitlyn O’Neill and Sammy Schumacher followed.

West Bend-Mallard’s Emma Weydert led her team with Avery Weydert, Neleigh Almond, Maddie Morey, Paige Frerk and Kiera Flynn behind.

Calista Joyce of Emmetsburg was sixth and Grace Erickson finished eighth to lead Newell-Fonda.

E-Hawks claim TLC

The Emmetsburg boys golf team fired a 327 to claim top honors here Monday at the Twin Lakes Conference tournament at Lakeside Golf Course.

Alta-Aurelia was second with Manson Northwest Webster and South Central Calhoun tying for third. Newell-Fonda was fifth, Southeast Valley sixth, East Sac County eighth, West Bend-Mallard ninth and Pocahontas Area 11th.

Tucker Smith led the way for the Cougars, shooting 75 to finish second. Caydin Anderson had an 87, Matthew Siefken an 88 and Drew Tincher a 92.

For the Titans, Caleb Gaffney and Charlie Nattress both fired rounds of 76. Noah Hendricks added a 93 with both Caleb Juhl and Kaden Dorman shooting 97s.
