Fort Dodge man eludes police, then claims truck was stolen
A man who led police on a pursuit in his pickup and later falsely reported that same truck as being stolen from him faces multiple criminal charges, according to court records.
According to the criminal complaints filed against him, Gregory J. Marshall, 29, of 1923 Second Ave. N., fled from police while driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on March 11. Then on March 30, he falsely reported that truck as stolen, criminal complaints state.
Marshall was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with:
• Eluding, speed over 25 mph over limit.
• False report of an indictable offense to a public entity.
• Reckless driving.
• Violating one-way designation.
• Failure to obey stop sign.
The pursuit occurred on Fort Dodge city streets at about 4 a.m. March 11.
“During the investigation of the pursuit, evidence obtained determined that the defendant was the driver of the vehicle that was involved in the pursuit and reported stolen,” officers wrote in the criminal complaints.
Marshall made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday. Magistrate Sarah J. Livingston set a June 5 preliminary hearing on the eluding and false report charges.
Court action on the other charges was postponed 180 days.
Marshall was released from jail under the supervision of the state Probation and Parole Office.
