Dodger boys edge Nevada in tennis

The Fort Dodge boys tennis team earned a dual win over Nevada Monday night, 5-4.

Micah Flaherty, Tate Balkenende, Aidan Recker and Jaxton Jones earned wins in singles to lift the Dodgers, who dropped a 7-2 decision to Boone.

Flaherty won at the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1, with Balkenende, Recker and Jones picking up victories in super-tiebreakers.

Flaherty won in singles vs. Boone, 6-1, 6-0, and also scored a doubles win with Balkenede.

“We played really well against Nevada,” FDSH head coach Scott Messerly said. “We had some big wins in singles and sealed it in doubles at the No. 1 spot.”

Flaherty and Balkenende again posted a victory together to clinch the dual.

Josh Beekman and Mason Lundberg, along with Jayden Stanley, were junior varsity winners.

Fort Dodge heads to Ames on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. meet.
