Dodgers set to take on Mason City
The Fort Dodge basketball teams welcome in long-time rival Mason City for a doubleheader here Tuesday night inside the Dodger gym.
Tip is set for 6:15 p.m. with the girls game.
Revenge will be on the mind of the Fort Dodge girls, as they suffered a 68-43 setback to the Riverhawks earlier this year in Mason City as Kelsey McDonough, Reggi Spotts and Machaela Trask all reached double figures.
Paytene Hiveley had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Dodgers in that one, with Lainey Maehl adding 14 and seven.
Hiveley and Maehl are both averaging 13 points and nine rebounds per game as seniors, with freshman LJ Maehl adding 10 points and five boards.
Spotts, a junior, paces Mason City at 18 points a night, with McDonough at nine and Trask eight. The Riverhawks have won four of their last five overall and are 25-4 vs. the Dodgers over the last 29 meetings.
On the boys side, Fort Dodge is looking to snap a seven-game win streak by Mason City in the series.
Mason City picked up a 61-51 victory earlier this year, as Kale Hobart scored 19 and Davion Maxwell 16. Javion Jondle led the Dodgers with 19 and Cade Westerhoff added 15.
Jondle, a senior, leads FDSH at 16 points and seven rebounds a night, with the sophomore Westerhoff at 9.5 and junior Ty Adams five. Hobart is the leading scorer for Mason City with Jess Cornick and Maxwell also in double figures on a nightly basis.
