Tritons fall to No. 8 Butler

EL DORADO, Kan. — The 10th-ranked Iowa Central football team was dealt a second consecutive setback in Kansas this past Saturday night, falling to No. 8 Butler, 41-21.

Last Saturday night, the Tritons were topped by 12th-ranked Coffeyville, 47-30.

The Grizzlies (5-2) put together a 24-0 run from late in the second through the third quarter, including an 85-yard interception return by Norman Massey to make it 38-14. Iowa Central (4-3) has dropped three of its last four, with all three defeats coming to ranked teams in Kansas.

Omarion Bartlett threw for 172 yards and a touchdown to Cal Weidemann, while Justin Silverstein had 116 yards passing and a TD to Weidemann. Bartlett and Silverstein completed a combined 26 of 37 passes, but were picked off four times.

Desna Washington had four receptions for 71 yards, Weidemann six for 68 with the two scores and Colton Hoag had a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Bartlett led the team in rushing with 42 yards.

For Butler, Jake Wolff completed 18 of 27 for 231 yards and three TDs, while Azhuan Dingle ran for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Rex Van Whye had 10 tackles to anchor the Triton defense, with Decari Randle, Noah Epley and Deonte Bryant each recording a sack. Jacob Camacho picked off a pass, as well.

The Tritons return home this weekend, hosting Dodge City at Dodger Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
