St. Edmond travels to face C-G/D

CLARION — The St. Edmond basketball teams will hit the road and open North Central Conference play against Clarion-Goldfield/Dows on Friday night.

The Gael boys (1-0 overall) will play their second straight road game against the Cowboys (1-0). The Gael girls (0-1) are back in action after a loss to Perry.

Girls action will tip at 6:15 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m.

In their first game, the St. Edmond boys beat Bishop Garrigan 67-42. Senior Hayden Mayer led the way with a double-double. Mayer had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Noah Simpson and Caleb Schaeffer had 10 each, while Quinten McCarville and Zach Smith had nine each as well.

For the Cowboys, they earned a 61-28 win over Eagle Grove in their opener.

Jaxon Carpenter had 23 points and seven rebounds, while Coady Olson had 12 points. Connor State had 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Gael girls suffered a 41-22 loss to Perry. Silvia Heldorfer had five points, while Mady Halverson and Gracie Harvey had four points each.

In the opening game of the season for the Cowgirls (2-0), who have wins over Southeast Valley (65-56) and Eagle Grove (53-27), Lexie Lane led the way with 36 points.
