CARROLL — The St. Edmond boys tennis team competed at a district meet in Carroll on Wednesday.

Joseph Li won his first two matches, 6-0 and 6-2, then 6-4 and 6-4. In the semifinals, Li lost to the eventual champion Jeff Miller of Council Bluffs St. Albert, 6-3 and 6-0.

Li then bounced back to place third with a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 win.

“Joe played through some real physical adversity and made some needed adjustments to his game to secure his first district medal,” said St. Edmond head coach Joe Perry. “For playing his first season of high school tennis, Joseph has done quite well and I am very proud of his performance.”

In doubles action, Lucas Kornder and Emanuel Perry won their first round match 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-4, then fell in their quarterfinal match.

“Those two young men really improved this season as a duo and it was exciting to watch them win their first district match playing together,” Perry said.
