Roosevelt gets best of Dodgers
The Fort Dodge boys soccer squad was blanked by Des Moines Roosevelt on Friday inside Dodger Stadium, 4-0.
The Roughriders (2-2 overall) went up 2-0 by halftime and never looked back.
“I think we’re really making progress,” FDSH head coach Joe Jackson said. “The intensity and physicality is the best we’ve shown this year to date.
“Roosevelt is another really solid team, but overall, we fought hard and continue to close the gap. It was a great night and we had a terrific home crowd. We just need to clean some things up and show a little more consistency in our execution. It’s a matter of being better than the last time, every single day.”
The Roughriders have dropped matches to Waukee (3-0) and Johnston (2-1), with victories over Urbandale (4-2) and FDSH.
The road doesn’t get any easier for the 0-5 Dodgers, who now face the Dragons (5-1) on the road before taking on Ankeny Centennial (4-2) and Ankeny (4-1) at home.
The combined record of Fort Dodge’s five opponents to date is 18-5, which has included losses to unbeaten West Des Moines Valley, Sioux City North and Storm Lake.
