Strong at the lanes

The Fort Dodge bowling teams are hitting their marks at a perfect time.

Heading into the conference meet, the Dodger boys bowled one of their top scores of the season and the girls hit their highest mark.

The boys beat MMCRU 3,219 to 2,449. The girls knocked off MMCRU 2,563 to 2,342.

Four boys bowled over 400 series, led by Kaleb Anderson. The Dodger senior finished with a 474 total. He had games of 226 and 248.

Brady Graves rolled a 447 with a high of 229 to go along with a 218.

Mitchell Bolton had the high game of the day with a 278 as part of his 436 total. Kyle Davis had a 401 with a 221. Carson Werning was near 400 with a 398 total. He had a 202. Christian Miller bowled a 373.

“This was the first time in a while that we’ve been over 3,200,” said Fort Dodge head coach Nick Vinson. “If we bowl this in a week at districts, we’ll be in the state tournament.

“Mitchell struggled in his first game, but settled in and came back strong for a 278.

“Kaleb had a great night with a 474. Anytime that you can through out a 373, that’s a good night.”

Alexis Kenney had a strong night for the Dodgers, rolling a 471 series. She had a high game of 266, coupled with a 205. AJ Feathers tossed a 225 as part of her 358 total.

Also competing for the Dodgers was Paige Copenhaver (308), Aryssa Lumsden (304), Lexi Hanson (289) and Hailey Folsom (285).

“This was our biggest total of the year,” Vinson said. “Alexis had a great night, bowling a 471. AJ had a great game. Hailey stepped in and bowled well on varsity.”

The Dodgers are back in action on Thursday when they host the CIML Iowa Conference Meet at the Family Bowling Center.
