REGIONAL BASKETBALL PREVIEW: Fort Dodge at Waukee

PROBABLES: Fort Dodge (7-14 overall): Tory Bennett, soph., 11.1; Aleaha Pommer, soph., 8.8; Cheyenne Miller-Hameed, jr., 8.6; Tristin Doster, jr., 3.7; Haley Wills, soph., 1.2.

No. 1 Waukee (19-2): Lindsey Kelderman, jr., 11.5; Katie Dinnebier, jr., 15.3; Peyton Kelderman, jr., 11.5; Megan Earney, jr., 7.4; Taryn Reitsma, jr., 7.5.

WHAT’S NEXT: The winner between the Dodgers and Warriors takes on either Ames (10-11) or Sioux City West (13-9) on Tuesday night with the highest remaning team the host school. That game will be for a spot in the state tournament.

LAST TIME OUT: The Dodgers suffered a 70-41 on the road vs. 12th-ranked (4A) Mason City as Aleaha Pommer scored 10 points and Jalen Adams added eight. The Warriors stretched their win streak to nine with a 55-39 victory over then-No. 1 Iowa City High.

DURING THE REGULAR SEASON: Waukee swept both game with its CIML Iowa Conference foe, winning 82-29 in December and 70-26 last month.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS: Waukee does not have a senior on its varsity roster, carrying six juniors — including all five starters — with five sophomores and five freshmen. Taryn Reitsma leads the team in rebounds, while Katie Dinnebier, Peyton Kelderman and Megan Earney are all shooting over 50 percent from the field. Dinnebier, Kelderman and Lindsey Kelderman have made a combined 132 three-pointers.
