High school golfers put the finishing touches on their season Tuesday with the co-ed state meet.

In Class 1A, St. Edmond’s Rylee Kinney and Drew Schaeffer tied for 19th overall in Marshalltown at the American Legion Golf Course. Fort Dodge’s Anne Treep and Issac Hage finished in a tie for 20th in 2A, which was held at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

The 1A champions were Ashley DeLong and Tate Storbeck of Clear Lake with a 73, while Johnston’s Taylor Sedivec and Nathan Petrak shot a 75 to win in 2A.

Kinney, a junior, averaged a 45 for nine holes this past season and an 89 over 18-hole events. She had a low of 40 on nine and 85 on 18.

“State co-ed is unique because of the alternate shot, so you’re playing different shots then you are used to,” Kinney said. “Drew was a great partner and I look forward to playing with him next year.”

Schaeffer fired a low of 41 on nine and 81 on 18 this past season. The sophomore averaged just under 45 for nine and 83 for 18.

“It was an awesome experience and something I would definitely do again in the future,” Schaeffer said. “It was a great day for golf on a tough course. Alternate shot was different, but it was very fun and I had a great partner in Rylee.”

Hage, who is finishing up his junior year, played for the Dodgers this past fall. He was the low scorer for both nine holes (45) and 18 (92), shooting a low of 43 and 85.

“This was the first time for these two golfers to play in a tournament together,” FDSH head girls golf coach Dave Louk said. “They both had some amazing shots throughout the day and played well together. Isaac had outstanding control of his irons, dialing up the green on several holes.

“And Anne proved once again that she can out-drive any of her female competitors by 40-plus yards. It was a fun day and good to represent in this state event again.”

Treep, a foreign exchange student at FDSH, averaged a 48 for nine holes and 89 over 18. She had lows of 41 and 83 on the season.

Emmetsburg’s Gretchen Hofstad and Matt Wirtz also shot an 87, with teammates Molly McCain and Kalvin Hart firing a 94. East Sac County’s Kayla Kraft and Brett Sharp shot a 95.
