Kasch powers Lynx vs. Gaels

WEBSTER CITY — Webster City used an early two-run home run from Leah Kasch to help earn a 3-1 victory over St. Edmond on Wednesday night.

Kelly Stoakes had a double and Taylor McKinney delivered an RBI single for the Lynx.

Jenna Miller earned the win for Webster City (7-2 overall, 4-0 North Central Conference). Miller struck out three.

Alayna Finucan was 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Erin Flattery was 2-for-3 for the Gaels, while pitcher Ella Vratny had a double.

Rylee Kinney scored the lone run for St. Edmond.

“We actually looked pretty good at the plate,” said St. Edmond head coach Nick Clark. “We just didn’t find the holes, but we hit the ball hard. We had a much better mentality (offensively). We just didn’t get the ball to drop.”

“The defense played really well behind Ella (Vratny). They were strong. Ella just made one mistake over the plate against Kasch and it wound up being the difference.

The St. Edmond junior varsity team lost 10-4. Ellie Berry drove in a run and played solid defensively.

The Gaels are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Alta-Aurelia. Action begins at 7 p.m.
