Treep finishes 5th for Dodgers
AMES — Anne Treep continued her strong spring golf season with a Top-5 finish here Monday at the Turk Bowman Invitational hosted by Ames at Veenker Golf Course.
Waukee was crowned the team champion with a 356, with Ames placing second (389) and Atlantic (390) third. Fort Dodge was 10th overall.
Treep, a junior for the Dodgers, finished in fifth overall. Treep, shot an 89.
“For Anne to shoot that low on a difficult course like that, playing for the first time is pretty amazing,” said Fort Dodge head coach David Louk. “The girls that Anne is competing against for the top two scores have, two to four years experience playing these CIML courses.”
Finishing first was Marshalltown’s Amber Henson (86). Waukee’s Emalee Andres (86) was the runner up.
Meghan Doherty of Waukee (87) was third, followed by Jessey Wyzgowski (88) of Waukee was fourth.
“We need to improve our ball striking and get more consistent,” Louk said. “The girls (team) are chipping and putting better and their short game is improving.”
